Why Parents Value School Basketball

In this video today, I’m going to share why parents are valuing school ball over organizations. This was a question that I get a lot, not from parents but from other organizations. We have plenty of conversations.

Valuing School Basketball

The main reason I see why parents are valuing school ball over organization clubs is:

1. Convenient. It’s super convenient. The athlete is already in school. They don’t have to take them, leave for practice to go anywhere else. There’s that convenient aspect right there.

2.  why they are valuing school ball is the belief that this is going to be the path to the next level. That’s not the case anymore, especially the age we’re living in now.

These high school coaches, they may or may not have connections. But keep in mind these coaches, “high school, middle school coaches,” have reached a level that may not be the college level or the professional level.

There are some out there, but the majority of them, they have not.

What EXACTLY does this mean?

It means that they are coaching for a job, coaching to maintain their job. Also, scouts and recruits are not coming to high school games like they used to.

There are venues, organizations, and exposure agents out there where if I’m a scout or recruit, I can go there.

If that kid is playing in that exposure camp or platform, I can see those 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 other kids, and then maybe see another kid on that platform.

The main reason I see why these parents are valuing school basketball is because of convenience. As I speak to a lot of these parents, they want to see their kid get to the next level, but they have to keep in mind that these coaches… And I’m not crapping on these coaches but telling you how it is, they are coaching for a job and to win, they don’t want to get fired.

With organizations a lot of those people can’t get fired. If you own your own organization, you’re not going to be able to get fired.

You want to make sure that they are helping your kid get to that next level, and make sure that you work on their goals.
